The Coffin/Gerry School Auction, held annually in March, features a live and silent auction in a relaxed, social setting. This year’s event will be streamlined by online event registration and ticket sales and the possibility of credit card processing at the event. A huge variety of items are offered at every price point – there is truly something for everyone. The CGS PrideAlive Auction also features a Balloon Pop and other fun surprises.
The Auction is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Coffin-Gerry PTO. Proceeds from previous Auctions have helped to provide new computers in each classroom, fund the computer lab at the Coffin School, and improve the playgrounds and facilities at both schools. This year alone, funds raised by the PTO paid for 3 of the 5 Smartboards installed at the Coffin School for the second grade classrooms. It goes without saying that parents in this community are tremendously appreciative of the support the PTO gives to our two wonderful schools. So, please feel free to give yourself a nice pat on the back!
We Need YOUR Help Securing Donations!
There are four main categories of donated items:
Teacher/Faculty Donations: Coffin-Gerry teachers and staff offer “Once in a Lifetime” donations, including bedtime stories, tea parties, and teacher guided field trips. These uniquely fun experiences are a highlight every year!
Classroom Donations: Each classroom “creates” an auction item. In the past, items have included decorated vases, homemade quilts and framed mirrors, a collection of sporting equipment, and crates filled to the brim with kid-made musical collections. Parents may be asked to help children create items during class time. It’s fun for everyone.
Merchant Donations: We welcome items from outside our schools as well. Many local merchants provide services and goods, special treats and gifts. Additionally, we welcome uniquely Marblehead items, like a visit to the lighthouse or a guided tour through an historic neighborhood.
Parent Donations: Parents always provide amazing things! Put on your thinking caps – you might be surprised by what you have to offer. Speak a foreign language? Offer a lesson or two! Handy with a toolbox? Build something beautiful! Have access to sports tickets or a weekend getaway? Consider sharing! Anything goes!
The Auction Committee welcomes any interested parent! Responsibilities vary in terms of time and commitment, so please don’t hesitate to pitch in. The Committee meets monthly, with most communications conducted via telephone or email. YOUR good ideas make the difference!
