2008 Holiday Shop

What it is: The Holiday Shop 2008 is a one day fundraising event that provides the children with an affordable and fun way to shop for family and friends - - and allows them to give a gift to someone they love.

When: Friday, December 12, 2008 (during the school day)

Where: Coffin School Gym

Who attends: Coffin and Gerry Students

Why: The Holiday Shop gives children the opportunity to experience the gift of giving. (And, it helps parents to clean out stuff that they don’t need!)

How does it work: Students will create a shopping list with their Teachers of up to 5 recipients. The day of the event each child brings in $5.00 and they will shop for each family member on the list. All the students will come with their class to the Coffin School and will have a 1/2 hour to shop. Kids will get shopping bags on the morning of the shop with their list attached. The cost of each item is $1.00 (maximum of 5 items per child). The items at the shop are small/inexpensive items that are purchased, created at the Craft Night, or simply found at home and then donated for this event.

How you can help: Parents can help out in several ways.
Donate Items
Craft Night – Tuesday, December 2nd 6-9 pm @ 1 Nicholson Hill
Come help put together some clever crafts for the kids to buy. If you can't come but want to help, please consider donating $5-$10 to help offset the cost of materials. Donations can be put in the Holiday Shop folders in the PTO mailboxes at each school.

Holiday Shop – Friday, Dec. 12th (Afternoon set-up Dec. 11th)
set up the gym on the day before the shop
coordinate the classrooms arrival and departure
help the kids with the shopping, gift wrapping
clean up

What type of items are needed ?
We are looking to provide “small/inexpensive” items for the children so they can shop. If you find something a child might consider giving as a gift, please consider making it a donation. We would be happy to accept either new or gently used items. Items will sell for $1 each.

- mittens/gloves - jewelry (earrings & necklaces) - golf balls/tees
- neckties - holiday decorations - jams/jellies
- dish towels, placemats - small painted boxes - calendars
- candles - soaps/lotions - sm. board games
- puzzles - picture frames - tennis balls
- vases - books - CDs, DVDs
